  • 30A spool gun

I am looking at buying a miller 30A spoolmate gun (# 130831) and I am intending on using it primarily for Alum but would also like to use it for steel and stainless. I have not been able to get a clear answer from my local rep so i am asking if anybody is currently doing this and do i need to change rollers?
    Thanks

Quite common, though you want to clean out your liner with compressed air before changing from steel to Aluminum. But thats about it.

I don't use a 30a but i have a 3035 and run lots of steel thru it. But it did wear out the rollers so it wouldn't feed the alum anymore. So i ordered a new set and saved them for the alum only...Bob

A 30A spoolgun is simply a wire drive, it will drive any kind of wire you choose to put into it. No more, no less. I have run Steel, Aluminum, SS, Copper thru mine. Of course, one has to have the smarts to correctly set up wire speed and voltage in each case.

Have had a 30A for 10 years now & no problems so far. We use it primarily for aluminum & think you would be happy with it. What machine are you attatching it to?

                30a

I've used mine to run flux core and aluminum. Just clean out the liner and brush of the drive wheels. No worries. Pull the trigger and weld away.

ok, today i hooked my 30a to my trailblazer 302 for the first time in about 2 years and....nothing. it worked fine the last time i used it, but today nothing no wire feeding, just the gas coming out. can anyone help me? i have the 30a with the WC-24. i tryed every way there was to hook it up just to make sure i just didn't forgot how to hok it up. still nothing
i had wire arc when i hooked it the stick setting but no wire feed. do you think the WC-24 died? or a problem with the gun?

Could be though when the WC-24 dies it generally makes the 30A speed control to go full tilt. More probable is that you've lost the 24 Vac. Easily checked between pins "A" and pin "G" on your machine Amphenol., if its there then its likely your WC-24 or a loose or damaged control cable to your 30A gun.
