      My favorite Quote is
" If you can read this thank a teacher, if you can read this in english Thank a Veteran"

Thanks to all who serve and especially to the ones who gave their lives.

We should all be so very thankful to everyone who has and those who are currently serving to protect this great nation! For it is them who have given us the ability to weld, write and enjoy a free life!

Norm: If you get a chance, read about the "Navajo Code Talkers." There's an allegiance with Arizona, as the Navajo Nation is 1/4th of NE Arizona. Very interesting reading, and a remarkably beautiful area of our State.

Matt: Many people may not know this, that the anchor and radio mast from the USS Arizona are part of a War Memorial in downtown Phoenix. I visit the Memorial often.

I always make a point of reading McRae's
                      In Flanders Fields on 11/11

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
                      In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
                      In Flanders fields.

John McCrae wrote that during the Battle of Ypres where chlorine gas was first used by the German army. Within 48 hrs of that battle, just over 6,000 casualties and 2,000 killed were sustained by the Canadian forces. As I was watching yesterdays memorial services it was said that Canada alone lost 66,000 of her sons during WW1. Thats why the last stanza in McCrae's poem is very memorable, to me.
