Hobart serial number lookup

Hey guys. I am wondering if anybody knows where I can do a serial number lookup for an old Hobart welder. I ran it through Miller's serial number inquiry but it comes back as "too friggin' old". The number is 12RT-69901. Any help would be greatly appriciated!!

Miller does not cross to any serial numbers that they did not build.

Hobarts serial numbers thru the 80's and 90's looked like this 96wsXXXX. The first two digits were the year and the two letters describe the product catagory, much like the last letter on the Miller SNs.

What kind of machine is it? If its that old, why do you need sn info?

The machine belongs to a guy that works for a company that I do a lot of repair work for. He called me this morning and was asking me if I could get any info on it because he knows that I can on Miller equipment. His grandpa past away and it was sitting in grandpa's barn under a cover. Granny said he could have it.
