Hello Norm I looked at the 185 but did like the look and wanted the higher amp and gen set. I said in my last post the wildcat was $4400. should have said $3400. paid $3800 for my champion 10.000 with cover. really like it. have just added a remote amp control from cruiser so almost up there with the big dogs. diverdown

I am the one that is still just an some puppy in this big dog yard . i hope you and the miss had a good thanks giving I sent the hole F..king weekend welding up a bridge for a framer that ran his tractor off with a full load of hay and bend the mainbeam ill get some pic up in the next day or two .

Hey Guys; I just bought a Lincoln Outback 185, Very similar to the Wildcat .
185 amps-DC., 5,700 watts AC. generator power, 7Gal. gas tank,
Electric & recoil start, It's even got a gas gauge, hour meter, Anyway I love it , Lots of AC. power & DC Welding power is great as well !! PS. It's a Kohler Engine !

I paid $2995. after Tax !

Follow up

Well, long story here, but maybe help someone else out with this experience.

As some of you said, buy something besides the Wildcat (for cost reasons). I tried a Generac 8000 XP generator from Lowes. Before I bought it, I asked if I could return it if it would not work out. I really must speak highly of Lowes no hassle return policy, for I took that noisy little beast back after burning a 5/32 7018 at 200 amps with my Dynasty 200 DX. The poor little Generac barely did it without running so low it almost stalled. Back it went.

I ended up buying a Hobart Champion 10000. It runs all the tools (compressor, Powermax 30 plasma cutter, Dynasty 200, and all the usual stuff). The Hobart was a recon from toolking. So I saved a bit on that. In the past week I also bought an XMT 304 cc/cv and a 30a spoolgun w/24 adapter. What a sweet machine! Got things pretty well covered with that setup.

Anyway, I just wanted to follow up on this old thread. With the XMT, spoolgun and adapter, and the Hobart Champion, I am just over the cost of a new Trailblazer.

I need to watch this thread. My cousin’s Bobcat, we are thinking of using for my dynasty 200. I'm not sure how the Bobcat's 220 receptacle is wired. As the Dynasty's plug has no neutral, just two hots and a ground.

Will the Bobcats ground be a correct ground for this? Being on wheels, how does that work anyway?

Seems related, hope not to hijack!!!

There is an adapter cord #300517 that connects the Bobcat/Trailblazers full KVA receptacle to the Dynasty's plug

I wish I would have chimed in earlier, I could have saved you the trip to Lowes. There is quite a big difference between "commercial" generators and industrial generators. Miller generators are industrial. They have a stiff voltage, are rated at 104 F, and have a usable peak power. None of the commercial generators have any of these attributes. Plus Miller's are Made in Appleton, WI, USA vs. China.

I'm glad you ended up with something that you like.

For future reference, the Wildcat would have no problems with the Dynasty 200 and the Wildcat is a pretty good machine for the money. Also, the Hobart Champs are not made by Miller, however, they are made by our sister company Hobart in Troy, OH and are pretty good machines as well.

Question for Miller John

The Hobart Champion 10000 that I just got says made by Miller Electric on the front cover. Why is that? It even goes as far as showing the address!

Also, once the XMT became available (to me), it was obvious the Wildcat was out!

I read about someone using a Generac 8000 XP to run a Dynasty 300 on a different thread. I thought it just might work, but became clear as day that it would not over the long haul! Also, I bought the Generac BECAUSE it said Made In USA. I work hard looking for tools (and everything else) made in USA, but it just gets harder everyday...

I appreciate the quality of the Miller brand. Top-notch all the way!
