    Good News ;

Well guys, I just got a call from a local Welding shop, seems they can't keep or get good reliable Welders !

So the owner called me this morning, he wants me to come and weld for him
on a casual - part time basis. He says I can expect between 20- 40hrs. a week. He knows I have my own business, and I can leave at any time during the day to go to any Jobs I may need to do !!

He will start me at $20.00 an hr. !!! Increases will come accordingly down the road !! We will meet this afternoon ! Ya Man, Life Saver !!

Good for you Norm. Glad to see things are looking up. 20 bucks an hour isn't too bad in today's economy.

Rock on man. Hope it works out for you!
Precision is only as important as the project...if you're building a rocket ship...1/64" would matter. If you're building a sledgehammer...an 1/8" probably wont.

Congrats Norm. My future son in law started today in a shop 12 miles up the road. Seems like all the temp guys they have been hiring couldn't do the welding plus most of them couldn't run a spoolgun and alum...Bob

Congrats from me also Norm!! I'm in the HVAC business and it's been terrible. Last week sold a system job for a house ($6200) now installed. That sure helped. Yesterday had three calls and put another $900 plus in the bank. It comes and goes. People are hanging on to their bucks and are afraid to spend. My bills go on whether I'm making money or not like insurance etc. as
all of you realize. Just hanging in there trying to pay the bills.
Good luck with the new job.

Well, I just got back from a meeting with the owner & his shop foreman, Everything went real well !!

It turns out the foreman is an Ironworker from Toronto- Local 721 and I'm formerly out of Local 736 - Hamilton. Lots to talk about, almost one hour of old times !!

Anyway I will start Sat. Morning, can't wait to get started !
They have so much work they are Sub- contracting a lot of the work out !

                            .............. Norm

PS. In the shop he has nothing but Lincoln Power Mig 350MP ( Four Machines ) And one little Miller 135 mig welder !
                            Should be Interesting !!

                              In one word Norm, INCREDIBLE!!!!

                              ( reliability )

Now there's a word most youngsters haven't really been able to figure out what it means. Please dont let me offend anyone. But there is more out there that either cant make it to work on time or cant show up the day after they get paid.

Norm, sounds like a super deal man, being able to leave to do other work. Its nice to see a give and take situation still out there. You'll have to give us an update on how you like the new shop.

Red or Blue...... well I guess if it can produce a sound weld then it really isn't an issue.
