DC can be set to 1 amp, I believe the default is 3 amps, its been a couple years since I experimented with this.mike sr

My thanks to both Paul & Mike. You are both right!! Before I checked this thread this morning I called Miller. If you set the default tungsten to .020 or .040, it will go down to 1 amp. A setting of .062 gives you a minimum setting of 3 amps and .094 and .125 shows 5 amps. Well now that I have my dumb question out of the way maybe I will be more careful about what I ask in the future. BTW, this thread is awesome and I do appreciate the fast response from members. When you are brand new to Tig welding(like me), it great to be able to read others comments about the same type machine that you have. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!Wayne Lewis

I bought this machine because it would do about everything and I liked the learning process, the manual is pretty good but it is unclear on a few things.
I do wish it had a sine wave pulse setting for the slow pulse (1 to 20 cycles), the square wave drives my eyes nuts at slow pulse settings so I pulse with the foot pedal instead.
Very nice little machine though, wished I had one when I was working for a living ha!mike sr

SETUP VIDEO>>> Youtube....
I have been lobbying for that book for years.... think we will be waiting.... for a while longer
But for beginners on these machines there is a setup video that Miller posted on Youtube.... it covers the basics pretty well... and is free....

Dynasty with a generator
Was woundering if anyone has tried running a dynasty 350 off of a generator? And if not what would be more important; overall watts or amperage draw. When looking at the input on the front of the 350 I see on single phase at 230 volts a draw of 39 amps max so would that be what would be more important when buying the generator? I was looking at buying a Honda EG 6500 woundering if that would be enough so support the welder ? Here the specs on the Honda:Specifications / ManualsMANUFACTURER HONDAMODEL NUMBER EG6500CLATENGINE TYPE HONDA GX390ENGINE DISPLACEMENT 389 CCSTARTING SYSTEM RECOILIGNITION SYSTEM ELECTRONIC IGNITIONFUEL TANK CAPACITY 6.3 GAL.CONTINUOUS OPERATION TIME 10.0HRS. @ 1/2 LOADMAXIMUM AC OUTPUT 6500 WATTSRATED AC OUTPUT 5500 WATTSDC OUTPUT NARATED AC CURRENT 120/240V 6500W MAX. for full amperage you would be looking at 9200watts.... so I would go with at least 10kw "continious rated.... not peak or surge... those are bogus numbers...
you will want a high quality generator that is frequency stable and puts out a real sine wave..... I would call Miller Tech support and see if they have an "approved" generator list..... and if there is an "avoid" list that might damage your welder.... once the smoke leaks out they are not much of a decorator item..
what are you welding that you want to run a Dyn 350 off a genset?? and under what conditions? kind of an unusual request..
a 6500 watt gen would be more in line for running a Dyn 200DX....

to get the benefit of the additional power of the Dynasty 350.... you need to feed it more amps... no shortcuts... a larger capacity genset is needed.....

am assuming that is a typo on your part.. AND that you forgot to include 240vac continuios wattage withoult voltage drop.... otherwise
You seem to be in the ballpark... but I would call Miller Tech support and ask them.... It is just too expensive a machine to expirement with.... if they give the go ahead and assure you that the warrantee is in full effect... then I would consider going further... not before....
Look at the Dynasty as a delicate electronic instrument as far as feeding it... would also call the genset manufacturer and ask them...
Know I am extra cautious.... but I want no part in blowing up somebodys machine.... call Tech Support...
