  • Dynasty Processes-Set Up

It has been requested by a few people to have a dedicated INVERTER thread and stick it.
This will be a thread mainly for Dynasty machines with their multi set up features. Diversions, while Inverters, are pretty basic and don't really belong in this group.
This thread is for specific questions regarding set up, menu features, processes or general experiences that feature the Dynasty type machines.

There also have been a lot of requests for a Dynasty book. Even though this is a GREAT idea and has been looked at, our resources at this time are too thin to take on this exhausting task. It's not as easy as jotting down notes on how the Dynasty welds. It has to follow a progression of features and benefits along with weld samples and practical applications examples.
If and when the economy picks back up and we gain some additional weld engineers, an in depth book on Dynasty functions could be possible.

Until then, this thread should help gather some data to help our advanced inverter users and be a collective area where our weld engineers can browse, time willing, and participate.

This is NOT an area for service issues. I'd like to keep this welding related.

    Thanks!
    Andy

Thanks for the good anwers! I have been trying the "soft" square wave, and the following settings

        300 amps EN
        150 amps EP
        80% balance
(the frequency has varied, depending on the joint configuration).

Oh, by the way, I am mostly welding on 1/2" aluminum. (Sometimes it is as thick as 1" though.)

These parameters have been working pretty well. Thanks again!

          1/2 inch Aluminum Settings

          Hey all,

Like Andy said, we have realized a desire for an advanced TIG welding setup guide for our more complex products like the Dynasty, but unfortunatly his comments about available resources is accurate. I did want to start building this thread with member submitted parameters.

Here is a link to another thread which explains ballance, independant amplitude adjustments and frequency for welding thick aluminum (1/2 and up) with a Dynasty 350.

          I hope this helps.

                Leefy,

After I posted this yesterday, something the cyber world got messed up. I was working with the site admin. to resolve it. She must have worked it out with Andy, because the link that Andy posted is the one I was trying to link to.

                Sorry about the confusion.

I have been searching for "hidden menu" and not found threads for the older Dynasty 200DX (pre blue lightning)?

You might want to open this issue in a unique thread as the 'Dynasty Processes-Set Up' thread should just pertain to documenting settings and so forth.

                    If you go here:

and enter your serial number, you'll get the correct owner's manual
if you can't find the one that came with the machine when you purchased it.

                    --dseman

                      FATFAB,

There are many hidden menus in the 200. Each is excessed by turning the machine off and pressing a series of buttons on the front panel while turning the machine back on. Depending which buttons are pressed and held will bring you to different menu functions.
These are all outlined in the manual.

Let us know if you still get stuck.

Since I'm new to the tig process, I look forward to this thread as being a great asset. If the experienced will start putting the settings of the dynasty for the material they are using, I think it will help all of us dynasty users. Look forward to following and if I ever get good enough, I will add my settings for what works. Now, most of what I could add wouldn't help anyone.

Dynasty 200 dx - late model

I have been welding steel stampings,.030 parts and experimenting with pulse on them, It is noisy thats for sure, I have noticed that when starting an arc it will bridge the two pieces easier, and the tungsten point lasts much longer.

I am using .040 tungsten for this particular part.

I am setting the machine at 60 amps 50 percent 50 cycles and 20 percent background to weld the .030 stamping to a .0625 coupling and get 100% penetration. (average amps are 36)

I set it for 34 amps 50 perrcent 50 cycles and 20 percent background to weld the .030 stamping to a .030 spigot fitting on the other end of it, 100% penetration. (average amps are 20)

These are fusion welds, no filler, in the event I need it I use .023 mig wire..
As far as aiding the penetration with pulse, I havent noticed any difference over DC only. I have talked to others that say it makes a big difference, but I havent seen it yet, but then I am old and a bit dumb........

I would like to see a provision on the machine to see what your average amps are when setting up the pulse without striking an arc, this would make changing the percentages much easier without doing the math.

Wondering if one of you computer guys or gals could design a worksheet to be posted here that would have a space by each type of data for entry by us welders. It would simplify what has to be typed by the person providing the information.

                              Thinking something like

                              __________________Type of Welder

                              __________________Type of Material

                              __________________Specification of Material (length/width/thickness)

                              Welder setup

                              __________________Amperage

                              __________________EN

                              __________________EP

                              __________________Balance

                              __________________Frequency

                              ______Y - N____________Pulser used?

                              __________________If Yes Peak T

                              __________________Background

                              __________________Gas type

                              __________________CFH

                              __________________Tungsten Size

                              __________________Tungsten Type

                              _______Y - N___________Gas Lens

                              _____________________Exc.

I tried in microsoft excel but couldn't lock the range so you could go through the answer area only. Not smart enough.

Anyway, maybe someone could put something on this link and we could fill in the data and attach pics to show the outcome.
