Just been kinda busy with life...no, not really, just bummed about life....Went out on a few calls to weld some stuff, then the guys backed out on it....just bummed....got into a commercial website making program, so gonna tinker in that....FINALLY got started on my stand for my pipe bender, thanks to TS-OFF-ROAD..............etc.....etc....etc.....

Didn't know they had boats in MO that were large enough to need a 700.

I don't keep up witht the latest in what the Navy has to offer.....didn't know the Navy started making aluminum battle cruizers!!!
Since FUSIONKING has moved up to sport boats to Navy ships, might come look at some work at Pearl Harbor!!!!

Yeah when we would take the big molds to the welder I'd watch the read out on the machine. In DC he was pushing 350+ amps and in AC it was close to 400 sometimes. But yeah 700 amps I can only reason that it would allow you to weld at 400 amps all day long, high duty cycle
when I replace my Syncrowave 200 it will be a Dynasty 350 or a Sync 250
The only problem with an Syncrowave is 98 amp @ 230 volts where the Dynasty 350 is 28 amps @ 230 and twice the cost.

I've run a Sync 350 pretty hot. Can't imagine having 700A available for tig. I'd probably melt my shield if I got as close as I normally do when tig welding.

Like they always say though, "you can always turn the big one down, can't turn the little one up". "Can't use amps you didn't buy".

You'd be surprised. A really big chunk of aluminum can suck up some amps.
That's why when my company asked what kind of welder we needed for the machine shop for mold repair I told them a Syncro 350 or Dynasty 350 they bought an Econo tig Go figure. Then they wanted me to fix an aluminum mold. What a joke.

We absolutely LOVE our Dynasty 700. It replaced an OLD Miller Synchrowave 500 that was on it's last leg.

We paid 11k for the complete tig runner package, which is a chunk of change I'll admit. But when asked by or LWS how we liked it, I told them if they offered me double what we paid for it, I still wouldn't give it up.

One problem though. There's one 700 and two of us welders. We fight over who gets to use it and when.....

I see another 700 in our future.

Edit: The torch that came with it is very nice, I think it's a Weldcraft 18SP, which is different from our other 18 series torches. Different diffusers, cups etc. Physically it's the same size, so we have no complaints. We've run ours up to 400 amps so far on thick steel and aluminum.....it did not disappoint.

700 Amp TIG torch?

Just out of curiosity, where do you find a TIG torch rated for that Dynasty 700? I also have heard little about the Dynasty 700; what a beast! Wonder what you CAN'T do with it?

Today was kinda strange...I had to weld a piece of 2" sch. 40 to a 1 inch plate....which is exactly what Miller rates the 700 for!!
I thought sheesh and rolled out the 350P. There was no pulse setting for even 1/2" with 5356. Had to go with GMAW and it welded it like butter. BTW it was on a work barge
But I was thinking about what it would'a been like with the big tig on that.
REAL THICK gloves!!! And I wouldn't know what kind of consumables!! Bottom line I actually don't want to have to weld anything that thick with a tig welder. But I would enjoy seeing pics of tig welding done on the extreme edge of the 700's capability. I'm guessing some automated applications or something like that....not in my league.

Never spent much time out that way. Did go to Ft. Leonard Wood for AIT (Advanced Individual Training) back in '67. Figured that was enough. Cold as heck at night, hot as heck in the daytime.

Funny story. Had a big fat guy in our class. Sucker could sleep through 9/11 and to make matters worse, he snored so bad the windows rattled. One night a bunch of us guys (about 6), tied that sucker to his bunk with tent ropes, picked up his bunk, and carted the whole shebang down the hill to the PT field where we planted him on the PT stand. Finally woke up about 5 AM in the morning. Woke the whole training battalion up with his screaming.

Slept a little "lighter" after that.

Oh there is NO WAY I could have afforded this thing. Or even a 350 even tho I need a 350 for all the different stuff I am doing nowadays.
It takes the same amps as the old Airco. I will more than likely never max this machine altho I have the Airco a few times on thick molds. I have not done them in quite awhile.
I want it to do the bump welding on t-tops and swim platforms and such. And also just to generally have a Heavier welder with similar capabilities as my little 200DX. I love the way the Airco welds and everyone who worked for me prefers it but they never really get into it like I do.
I has been crazy busy for me lately and it is very frustrating already to have to look at that thing just sitting there and not being able to use it.
I do want to get a torch and hose set-up that is better than the one I am now using. I want the rubber hose not those plastic POS's that have the little ferrel doohickie that always ends up dripping when I run really bigamps or tug one time. 50 ft minimum also...boats are just too long to settle for anything else.
And I gotta get the 3.5 coolmate I guess. Anything less makes little sense when that one looks integral. And I probably will even MAKE a cart for this one as well.

congrats. That is one heck of a machine. I recently bought a new Dynasty 350
Complete and it was lot's of money.

There was not way I could have ever afforded the 700 so you done great.


The power requirements for that Big boy is huge but if you have an older machine it's probably a direct hook up.

Sounds like you done good!

Heck, I can relate some of my first practice coupons look like I welded them with a 32 oz claw hammer, at least now they are looking like I traded up to a tack hammer
