Also, check your ground connection and clip any ball off the end of electrode,as that will make starting much harder, Paul

im by no means an expert, but my spool gun had a bad wire in it and was messing me up.
Does everything flow smooth if your just pulling the trigger and not welding. My gas would flow but the wire was intermittent and the power wire was not tight inside the gun either.
Fixed those and it works like a champ now.

Not enought heat or the wire speed too high.
A coating on the alum, dirt or anodizing. Just my thought...Bob

3035 Spool gun problem
Greetings! (spool gun newbie)
Maybe someone can help me out here. I have a 2006 model 250 miller with the 3035 spool gun. Currently I have .035 Aluminum loaded in it. The problem I am having is............
1. When I pull the trigger, most the time it "Pops" and a chunk of the wire flies accross the shop (fubars the weld)
2. sometimes when I attempt to begin welding the wire bounces off the material faster than it can light off, and I of course go off target..........
Thoughts??
thanks
