  • Dynasty 350 reliability issue?

Bought a new Dynasty 350 in January.

Main use is TIG both AC and DC and I love the fan on demand feature.

Nice and quiet as I use an air cooled torch for most of my work.

Last week, I turned it on and got a HELP 31 message when I hit the foot pedal.

Went thru the troubleshooting menu in the manual.

Reset the parameters to factory default and then looked up the arc time and cycles since new by reading the manual.

12 hours 47 minutes arc time and 3400 cycles ( arc starts)

Help 31 code in maqnual says to contact factory service center.

Dropped it off yesterday and hope it isn't anything major.

Anyone else have similar experiences ?

It worked like a charm until this happened.

230 VAC single phase 80 amp line and installed inside a clean garage.
No grinding dust or oil spray/fumes.

Was just getting used to how to use it and now this.

When it comes back, I'll have to start learning over again - but that's the fun part.

FWIW, I have just over 62 hours and 20,652 arc starts on mine with no issues at all. In fact, yours is the first I have heard of since the machine came out.

Like anything else, there are going to be component failures and my advice to you is to let your service center, and Miller, take it from here. They will make it right since the machine is obviously still under warranty.

Sounds like it might just be a lemon. I think most of us would agree that our Millers have been very good to us.

        Wow,
Lemon is a strong word isn't it??

From all I've seen, that machine so far has been less than average failure rates compared to all our machines. So that puts it up pretty high on the reliabiliy scale.
I wouldn't worry too much. I know you must be a bit distrought about it but I've got a BUNCH of these in use at my teams and so far, no issues except the occasional abused torch.
        They will make it right.

        Let us know.

Well just in the sense of one dud in sea of reliability.

Dynasty 350 has been repaired by Miller -

            Update on my Dynasty 350.

Dropped it off April 3 and picked it up April 21.

Repaired free as it was under warranty and now works as it did before.

Turned out it had a bad pc board inside and now it's as good as new.

Both my local welding distributor and the repair company have been wonderful in helping me keep my equipment working so I feel I should give them a mention here.

Power Source also has a location in Allentown, PA and they repair, service and rent all brands of welders.

I also got a new Miller sticker which I'll put to good use.

            Thanks Miller !
