Hot rod icon D1ck Guldstrand died on Sept. 2 at the age of 87.

I was lucky enough to have known him in the 1970's

He always had a ready smile and a dry sense of humor and would have gotten a chuckle out of the software editing out his first name in this post (D I C K) and the autoweek notice

a true gentleman in and out of the sport

He is most noted for being "Mr Corvette" for all of his work in racing development of that Chevy...
the Corvette guys out there owe as much to Guldstrand as they do to Duntov..

his suspension and other work benefited the sport as a whole

And with him, most likely, has gone knowledge that can never be recovered. He probably forgot more than most will ever know.
