    Its a 1970 3/4ton Chevy Longhorn.

    To give you an idea how long this thing actually is (about an inch short of 20') That is a 17.5' trailer. It hung off the front, and back.

    I bought it from a hot rod shop I worked at for a while, for $500, w/o a motor or transmission. Dana 60 rear end, with 4.11's, all brakes, interior, etc was there, only missing power train. Fast forward 2 years.

    It is sitting in a locked storage yard, behind an ex girlfriends dads shop. (I pay rent...its safe.)

    After working at jobs that lacked either pay, hours, steady employment, or a combination, I got the job I have now at an emission testing station, about 3 miles from my house. I also get a decent paycheck. This financed the following:

    It was (at the time) a 454 of unknown history, that drove into the yard under its own power...but should be checked out...oil pressure was acting funny. I did a compression check, leak down of less than 7% on all slugs. Awesome. I can live with that. Pulled a main cap off...could have made smoother bearings with a chainsaw. The engine BUILDER knew what he was doing. The guy he sold it to, didn't prime it, and it had maybe 100 miles on it, is my guess. Still had good crosshatch in the cylinders.

    It is now, a freshly rebuilt (and as of today about 5 hours ago) 468ci mill. I have a dyno session set up, to break in the cam, as well as figure out how much power it actually makes. That should be happening on the 23rd of this month.

    I also rebuilt the transmission, and installed a TransGo re-programmer kit. Picked up a fully brazed RV converter (should be around 1400-1600 stall...which I hope will be the start of the power band) This isn't the first trans I've put together, and I think I'll be pretty happy with it. I did some adjusting, and I'll be able to hold manual low until everything else fails, if I wanted to.

    Now, pictures when my hands were clean enough to grab a camera, or in most cases, my cell phone.

    Scat cast steel 4.00" crank
    Factory connecting rods, w/ARP rod bolts
    Comp double roller timing chain
    King main and rod bearings
    New cam bearings (forgot brand)
    Melling high volume oil pump
    Factory 8qt dually oil pan
    ARP oil pump shaft
    Edelbrock #7162 cam, with hydraulic lifters
    Edelbrock intake
    Edelbrock valve springs, keepers, and retainers
    3/8" Chromoly pushrods
    Comp cams pushrod guide plates
    Crane cams full roller rockers
    Weiand water pump
    Doug Thorley tri y headers (smog equipment shaved)
    upgraded HEI distributor
    Holley 130GPH fuel pump
    MSD plug wires
    Felpro gaskets
    ARP engine fasteners
    SFI approved flexplate and harmonic balancer

    I'm going to be buying the carb from the guy I'm having dyno the engine. Currently planning on an 850 Speed Demon.

    As soon as the motor is in the truck, I have 2 major things left. 1, install the painless products wiring harness I bought. 2, install a new gas tank, and run new fuel lines.

    Should be a pretty decent truck when I get it running. I'm hoping for around 500hp, and 500ft lbs of torque. Based on the parts I have, I should be right about that. The powerband should be right around 1500-6000 area.

    I'm just happy this thing will finally be running around!

    I'm so envious of you guys. These all look like great project cars. It makes me a tad ashamed to post some of the stuff I'm working on. Alas, my willingness to learn is forcing me to do so. I'll post some pics here soon. Thanks for sharing, everyone!

    Well, just got off the dyno, made 502 hp to the rear wheels, 400 ft lbs torque. Stock rod's, pistons and crank, 346 ci... made 500 hp @ 7100 rpm and carried 490 all the way to 7600. Should do 9's in my 2800lb camaro.....

    That should be a really sweet engine when you get it in the car, looks awesome on the stand.

    As promised, a few more pictures of my old chevy.

    And a scanned image of the dyno sheet, and graph.

    I just put the front end parts on the other day...waiting for more stuff, like springs and such. Hope to have the engine/trans in it by the end of this weekend. As soon as I have a video of the engine running, either in or out of the truck, I'll try to link to that as well.

    Still working on it, it's sitting in the corner of the shop now waiting for the next cam, and oil pump.

    12.2:1 compression on stock pistons 346 ci LS1. Pistons flycut .090" for valve clearance, .036 MLS head gasket, cnc ported then hand finished ls6 heads milled .080 and chambers welded from64 cc to 58 cc, 2.00 hollow stainless intake valve, 1.55 hollow stainles exhaust valve. Both tuliped and undercut. Cam is a custom grind 247/252 duration @ .050 .647/.647 lift. 109 lsa, 107 ICL.

    Intake is a custom ported edelbrock supervic with a fast 4bbl throttle body. I made the aluminum an block adapters from 1/2" aluminum.

    One project leads to another it needing to work on my truck, I ended up building the guy that runs the shop a bumper for his 92 Bronco.

    I just finished mounting it to the frame the other day, still need to mount the fairlead and the skid plate.

    My project is getting wiring at the moment...slowly but surely.

    Here's a picture of the engine set up on the dyno though. I still havent scanned the dyno sheet in.

    Pictures are in the following order:

    Modified piece of 3x3 1/4" tube to slip into the frame rail, and mount bumper.

    Test fitment on vehicle after everything was welded solid

    One of the welds on the side of the winch plate

    A picture that shows how sturdy this **** thing should be

    I built it out of 1/4" plate, and 1.5" sq x .125 wall.

    Here is the first rebuild of my old truck, It had and incident with a falling tree and it is a new project now, No pics except the old Blue truck. The bumper is a bit overkill but what the heck!

    Had the motor dyno'd today. Started out with a baseline of 390hp, and 469 ftlbs.

    At the end of the tuning session, had 448hp @5400, and 503 ft lbs @4100. Had about 2000 RPM worth of 460+ ft lbs. I have a feeling this motor is going to pull like a freight train in the truck...if I can keep traction.

    I have a sheet (though not currently on my computer) and I should be getting an email (of the same) as well as a link to a video of a pull on you tube. The guy was really cool about the whole thing, definitely had a good time spinning it. I'll add a link/picture when that happens.

    All in all, not bad for a 468 big block chevy on a budget, with pump gas and 8.5:1 compression.
