Looks good. It brings back memories. I had a Suzuki GS1000 in 79 & then got a slightly worked GS1100 in 81. I was the top guy around for awhile but then the GSXR's came out & I was at the bottom of the pile.MM250

ha, yeah, i thought about choppin the bars down a bit...the seem kinda high, but this is a very cheap rebuild...$200 bike, $50 battery, $40 oil/filter, and $70 paint job. trying to fix it up and maybe sell it. It's runnin like a banshee now. like to maybe get 1200 or so out of it...never knowsigpic

One thing you could do is to install clubman bars or Tomaselli clip ons with a Rickman fairing or the small bikini fairing from an RZ350.Then mod the rear pegs to raise them. That'll allow you to angle up and raise the exhaust.First thing you know you have a nice unique euro style cafe racer which would go well with the paint job.

Better yet fab up such bars yourself, its cheap and you get exactly the angle you like.Last edited by Frank Motoweld; 06-17-2009, 08:28 PM.Millermatic 252

I might actually have a set of wheely bars for that frame LOL I've got a bunch of parts left from my old KZ900 with the 1100 "J" motor bored to 1478 that i use to play with drag racing. The motor is now in a new frame that's completel custom, undercut gears, lectron carbs, huge cams etc..etc..
but anyway, that's the first thing i thought when i saw your pics... Good looking older bike. I'm surprised you were able to get all the carb parts you needed without back order or going aftermarket replacement.
Was it blue or red first though? I'm thinking the red was OEM???Dynasty 200DX

Lucky indeed! I won't even pull the tops off of carbs i'm servicing on a bike older than 1990 unless i suspect trouble there or know i can get some if needed. I've done every trick in the book putting old ones back on. As for jets and needles, well lets just say i've spent some hours (and hours) on the lathe with emery paper and a micrometer trying to get 4 needles exactly the sameGod, I think i had more time in jetting that bike than it was even worth (1983 yamaha xs400 - maybe ex ) but it was a "special" according to the badge, special like a lemon off an assembly line IMO LOL
Bike looks good, I restore vintage honda mini-trails quite often but haven't messed with anything that size in a long time other than riding my 750 and being track support for the bike that now houses the "J" motor I spoke of earlier.Dynasty 200DX

well, i had to open them up...on the left one the barrel was stuck closed. all varnished up and stuck to the sleeve. little carb cleaner and cotton rag and it cleaned up pretty good. polished the ends of the mains, and cleaned and polished the idle jets. thats waht made the difference i think. those tiny little ports on the idle jets. im sure it all helped though gettin a good onceover.
Now i think i may just sell it. hope i can get somethign out of it..lolsigpic

Pretty slick little ride. I had an '81 LTD 750.
The tank you have & rear faring on yours wasn't on mine tho & mine had a little flip up half seat. Looks like you have KZ parts on it, the bars are LTD tho. I am by far, no expert on bikes.
Great bikes. I can't tell you how many times I tore the carbs down on that bike. Ended up going with bigger jets when I did the top end. I put a 4 into 1 pipe on it, the stock exhaust was junked out.
I would love to get another one.So you're telling me...You're not nostalgic? Then, give me another word for it......
